Start Your Day with Lemon Water

Image
I like starting my morning with a drink of lemon warm water and when that is not available I usually resort to green tea which is always at hand. Lemon water is a great way to start my day,   it helps to put my body in an alkaline state.  Lemon might seem too acidic, but it actually has the reverse effect because it helps boost my metabolism. Clean water and a slice of freshly squeezed lemon is one of the most highly rated energy boosters of all time. Water with lemon gives the body clean energy through both hydration and oxygenation that provide extraordinary energy and mental clarity. When added to your water, fresh lemon helps oxygenate the body and optimize enzyme function. This fruit is known to stimulate the liver’s natural enzymes and assist the liver in the process of getting rid of toxins such as uric acid. It’s advisable to drink this fresh lemon first thing every morning. Switching up your morning beverage doesn’t have to be complicated. You could also do warm lime ...

Self-care Is Not Selfish, It’s The Right Thing To Do

Image
by Priscilla Nnaka It’s been happening all the time. I see it often. I feel it when I see a woman who does not look after herself. She looks after everyone but herself. She believes it's a sacrifice she has to keep making.  She believes it will be selfish of her to take care of herself first, like having an “alone” time with a good book to read and a cup of her favorite drink/tea, spending time with the girls to do just girl stuff, serving herself food before her husband and children, taking a warm and perfumed bath on weekends all by herself, taking a day off to relax, or taking the long-overdue, well-deserved vacation from any kind of work, especially housework.  For women who sacrifice so much of self for others, there’s always a holo look in their eyes, a faraway look of regret. But they’ll rather die than admit it to anyone or even to themselves for that matter, that they need rest for a while from all the housework. Darren is my friend, she got married at age 18 when she...

Meditating: Connecting To Your Source

Image
I recently became interested in meditation after watching a Youtube video by Afrogenic. Yes, she is a born again Christian and had all the right arguments to back up why you should incorporate meditation in your everyday life.  After that I watched another video where Oprah Winfrey interviewed Deepak Chopra an Indian medical doctor, who is also well versed in the art of meditation and yoga.  From that interview I got the information I needed to convince me the more of the benefits and why I should incorporate meditation into my daily routine. Chopra defined meditation as the "Progressive quieting of the mind till it reaches the source of the mind which is what we call the soul or spirit." Chopra says that meditation takes you to your source. If you are a Christian, you know that your source is Almighty God your Father and the creator of heaven and earth. Chopra continued, "It's the most effective way to manage stress. When you are stressed, you don't sleep well. ...

Men's Lifestyle

The size of the bladder is 40 - 60cl. A bottle of coke is 50cl. As the bladder stores more urine it can enlarge up to 300cl. An overfilled bladder may leak and this leads to wetting / urinary incontinence. Also the volume may put pressure on the kidney and may lead to kidney damage. What may likely bring the man to hospital is acute urinary retention. He wakes up one day and he is not able to pass urine. Everything I have described above is associated with prostate enlargement, technically called benign prostate hyperplasia. There are other diseases of the prostate like: 1. Prostatitis – inflammation of the prostate 2. Prostate cancer – cancer of the prostate. This discussion is on prostate enlargement. I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that everyman will have prostate enlargement if he lives long enough. The good news is that there are lifestyle changes that can help the man after 40 years to maintain optimum prostate health. 1. NUTRITION Look at what you eat. 33% of all ...
